Where to put my music files

I connect my Android phone to my PC, open the file system and see only the 3 items listed below:
Name Type
Autorun Setup Information
MDMSetup Configuration settings
MDMSetup XML Document

So, where is the file system? How can I navigate through the file system? Where do I park my audio files to play on the phone later?

Many thanks in advance for your assistance.

Re: Where to put my music files

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? First, make sure you've unlocked the screen after plugging the phone in via USB--if the phone is screenlocked, the computer won't be able to read anything.

Next, look for a USB connection notification in the notification bar. Swipe down the notification panel and tap the USB notification, and make sure MTP is selected.

Now on your computer, open Windows Explorer. Do you see the name of your device listed there among all of the computer's drives? I suspect what you listed there is what is on a small "CD Drive" partition of the phone that is used to install some manufacturer software on your computer (like a sync app)--this kind of program is often unnecessary, so don't feel obligated to install it. Ignore this CD Drive partition, and look for the name of the device instead.
