Where did my shutter speed slider go?

Okay, so I SWEAR when I first got my pixel 2, there was some kind of manual mode with a shutter speed slider that enabled me to take some pretty cool action shots. I have an amazing picture of a hummingbird where you can see the details in its wings beautifully. But today I was trying to take pictures of hummingbirds, and I couldn't find that setting anywhere and the shots were super mediocre. Humming birds were super blurry. What the hell? Am I crazy, or did it just get phased out in an update? Does anybody else remember that feature? Really hoping someone can answer because this is literally driving me nuts
Is there any third party camera apps I can use that have that?

The paid Manual Camera (it's not the paid version of the free one, it's the same name but by a different developer) is supposed to have manual shutter control.
