Where do downloaded pictures go?

I have the Verizon version with 8/512.
If I download a pic from a browser window, where does it store?
I cannot find it in the Download folder or any other. I've not seen this on any other phone. I cannot find how to change the default download location.

If you're using Chrome, hit the 3 dots at the upper right, then Downloads, then the gear. The first setting is where the downloads go. The second one lets you decide for each download or let them all go to the same place.

Will, it is today!
I just DLed two pics. One from a Google search and one from a Google search on Chrome. They both went to the DOWNLOAD folder on internal storage,without changing any settings anywhere. Exactly where I looked for the pic I DLed the other day and it wasn't there.
Go figure. I guess y'all can just call me CHICKEN LITTLE.

If you download an image from the Google search app (not the Google website in your browser), you have to make sure the Google app has Storage permission granted in order to access the downloaded image in the /Download directory. Go to Settings>Apps, select Chrome, then Permissions, then turn on Storage. If it's not turned on, then the image files get saved to the protected system directory called /document, which can only be accessed by the Google app.

Usually download pictures go in gallery In download folder, if you have Google photos back up on it be there also and Google drive . And to change default it in settings to apps then 3 dots click default application choose always ask before making default so if there's option you choose it .

I had this issue recently. Whenever I downloaded an image from a Google search it showed up in the top swipe bar, but I had to open it then screenshot it as it didn't appear anywhere else. Something must have changed with a recent update as this wasn't happening before. This is how I eventually found the solution:
Go to SETTINGS > APPS > GOOGLE > PERMISSIONS then make sure STORAGE is checked/allowed. Now when I download an image it shows up in the DOWNLOADS folder in my GALLERY as well as being visible in MY FILES. Hope that helps!
