I downloaded a picture from a Google image search and now I have no idea where it is. I thought it would be downloaded to the phone's gallery but it's not there. Any idea where it is?

If you select "Albums" it should show your Download folder and the pictures there.

Gallery isn't a place, it's an app. It shows the pictures listed in Media Scan's database. Downloading doesn't trigger a rebuild of the database. You can run media.Re.Scan after a download, or you can restart the phone. As @WizeGuyDezignz said, they're probably in your Download folder. (Which show them in Gallery's Download album.)

Welcome to Android Central! It's probably because Storage permission isn't turned on for the Google app. Go to Settings>Apps, select Google, then Permissions, and make sure Storage is turned on. If it's off, then downloaded files go to a protected system directory called /document, which only the Google app can access. If the permission is turned on, then downloaded files go to the /Download directory, which you can access.

If you use Chrome and have set download to your SD card, then this is the path, at least for me, and I have no idea how to change it.

/SD card/Android/data/com.android.chrome/files/Download/
