where do you install a scandisk on google nexus 5

i'm trying to download my pics onto a scandisk but do not know where to install it

Are you referring to a SanDisk SD (or microSD) card as opposed to the Scandisk (a Microsoft disc checking utility) you indicated? Assuming you meant an SD (or microSD) card, the Nexus 5 doesn't accept them (Why Nexus devices have no SD card | Android Central).

I don't use my phone as a camera but can't you email the photos to yourself as attachments and then move them to a file on your computer?

That's one option for moving files from a Nexus 5 to a computer, but there are plenty of other options that would work too, without having to e-mail, such as, but not limited to, saving them to Google Drive (or any other cloud storage service that you have an account with and has an Android app) on your Nexus 5, using an app like AirDroid, connecting your Nexus 5 to a computer via a USB cable and then browsing the phone as if it were a connected hard drive, etc.

Also you can use an SD card reader like the Meenova with Total Commander to transfer files to and from the card and phone.
