Where does email app put downloaded attachments?

We're trying to save a file attached to an email and move it to another directory (with ES), but can't find where the (stock) email app has put the download. Email says file is saved, but nothing shows up in download manager, or in sdcard/Downloads. Where is it going? (And why is something basic so difficult on Android?)

It's likely being saved in a folder created by the email app. Download it check es file Explorer and sort the files/folders by date modified and see if the file or folder is presented towards the top.

Let us know how it goes.

Good idea, but no luck. It confirmed that the Email app wasn't saving anything to storage at all, even though it said it had. We just gave up on that and got the file transferred via USB.
