I have recently gotten note 5 and would like to know where the menu button is located

There's no default Menu button at the OS level anymore. Typically apps are now designed so that tapping the top left corner of the app (or swiping from the left edge) will bring up menu options. As well, sometimes apps will have their own 3-dot menu button at the top right corner (typically older apps that haven't adopted the new Material Design standard).

If you hold down the back button it usually brings up the menu in the app if there is not one like Denver said.
