I am trying to sync my phone in my car.

Sync the phone to the car? Or sync the phone to Google when you're in the car?

If to the car, that's Bluetooth, and there's no guarantee that the phone and the car "speak the same Bluetooth format". Turn on Bluetooth in the phone and see what happens when you've paired and connected them.
