Where is that sound coming from?

I have a Galaxy S10+ which I love. There are a couple things frustrating me. First, pop-up notifications don't stay on screen long enough. If I am not looking at the phone when the notification comes in, it's gone before I can see it. Second, I have problems with notification sounds. How can I figure out which app is triggering the sound. Is there an app which could track things like this down?

Welcome to AC
Download Nice Catch from galaxy play store and let it gather information for few hours see if can catch it that way

Welcome to Android Central! Pop-up notifications are not meant to stay on the screen for very long, because for most users, that would likely become very bothersome. The notification icon in the status bar for that pop-up should still remain -- but since there's not much room on the status bar for a lot of icons, you usually have to swipe down the notification panel to see the list of notifications you may have missed.

Regarding notification tones -- are you talking about notifications that have unique tones, or ones that use the default tone?

My wife has an i-phone, and I like the way it handles messages. I was hoping there was some setting that could adjust it.

As far as the notification sounds go, I'm not sure if it's default or not. I don't know what kind of notification it is. It might be email or SMS messages, a warning, or something else.

I'm not a newbie. I've been a Galaxy user for many years through several versions, and these problems have always been issues. I've just never pursued them before now.

Thanks for your help.

Are you hearing the notification tone, but no notification icon is showing up? Or are you hearing it while the phone is across the room, and by the time you look at the screen, you're not sure which undismissed notification still in the notification panel was responsible?

I just got the sound while holding the phone on my hand, screen on. No pop-up or message. Oh wait. It an email entering my inbox. Then I got another, this one from tiktok. So sometimes I can identify the source, but I just had two more I couldn't identify. I installed Nice Catch as suggested earlier, but it's not showing these latest ones.

All of those tones are the same? If there's a tone that sounds very different, it could be the NFC sensor picking up something nearby (e.g., a credit card in a wallet-style case).

Could it be that you have all of your app notifications coming in as the same tone/notification sound? Have you tried rooting through your notification sounds to see if you can recognize it from the tones that came with your phone?
