It's a GT-P5210 (10 inch Tab3) and I can't find the microphone or settings for it after I was told my voice is very soft.
I have the manual - there's nothing about a microphone there that I can see.
Thanks

Usually they are along the bottom edge, and I'm not sure for a Tab if there are 2 like with phones but they are just little holes. Looks like you could maybe stick a paperclip in or the tip of a toothpick. They are very small. If there are two the second will be on the back of the device somewhere. Again the same small hole. The one on the back is usually in play for recording video while the one on the bottom is in play for calls and voice activation.

Thanks. I took a magnifying glass and went around the outside and located it next to the USB socket!!!
Success!
And now I know why my voice was soft: it was the felt on the cover/stand I use, so it was muffled.
Pity there's no meter or setting knob. Maybe I'll use one of the decibel apps to check this in future.
Thanks for your help.

There can't be a setting knob (or even an internal setting) because you don't have the equipment (or the license) to set the transmit audio level on a radio transmitter (which a cellphone is), which would make it illegal to use the phone if you changed the transmit audio level.

The normal cause of low transmitted audio is lint (the phone sits in your pocket with the mic at the bottom) in the hole for the mic. The cause of your problem was similar, just for a different cause.
