My work phone is the comando, I normally use my Charge....but the Comando doesn't let me move downloaded ringtones to the onboard media file. Where do I place the ringtone in order for the choice to be seen when I want to pick it for a contact?

Thanks
Jim

Needs to go on the SD Card under "Ringtones". Access your SD Card and make sure there's a folder named Ringtones... if not,.then create one either from your phone using a file manager app or from your computer. Move the file into the Ringtones folder.

You can use the app...Astro File Manager. Long press on the file or any where else in the app to bring up the menu to copy/paste/cut/move files.

I've been downloading all of my ringtones at this website. theirs alot of newer stuff like Jay Z and Lady Gaga, but their is alot of older stuff from the 60s, 70s, 80s, rock and stuff like that too.

Thanks for the info of getting new ringtones in so the Commado recognizes them. Any info on how to get Notifications tones in also?

Same deal... move notifications or any other sound file to the folder you wish to hear it in.

Thanks for the reply.

To clarify, what would the name be for a folder to contain the notification ringtones for email and messages?

"Notification Tones" for messages? I can't even find the email tone settings yet, I'm guessing they're the same.

My first Android, switched from Blackberry, so I'm learning as I go.

Thanks!

Just "Notifications"

You can set a different sound for the two email services. For Gmail... go into Gmail... press Menu... Settings... Select Email account... Notifications... Ringtone.

Same goes for the stock email app... Open Email... press Menu... Settings... and change the Notification Sound.

The SMS Text messages will use the same sound for notifications as your email notification sound. The only way to change that would be to use a 3rd party SMS/MMS app. I like using "Handcent SMS" app found in the android market. Another good one is "Go SMS".

Also if you're not happy with the stock email app that comes with the phone... an app called "K9Mail" is a good choice.
