Where's the customization?

Up for an upgrade in a couple months and have started researching/playing with the new modles.....diggin on the echo so I came here of course......is this phone gonna get any love from the dev's???? Or does the dual screen pose an issue? Or maybe the "nitch" aspect of this phone is a deterrent????? Or is the bootloader locked?? Just wonderin'......

Almost any phone can be rooted..... just curious if this phone is gonna receive any love from the dev's ...... I don't have the skills to do it myself....
And yeah, I did read the stickies first.
