Android Central Question

So my Samsung Galaxy Watch is to be delivered tomorrow. I'll want to download watch faces, but I see there are lots of face apps for this - most pay for premium (to avoid ads and get full use). I'd appreciate advice as to which one is the overall best to get so I get it right the first time. Many thanks. Peter

I moved this to the Galaxy Watch forum for more specific traffic.

Hi Peter, there's no telling what you like. "The best" is different for everyone. Finding the perfect watch face is part of the fun of having a smart watch, I'd say. There are many posts on this forum from people showing their most liked watch faces, so I'd start with reading those to get a feel. The Galaxy Wearable app is a good start as well, since it will suggest the most popular faces on the main page.

I use Watchmaker, no real reason other than it was the first I looked at, seems ok and lots of watch faces so I just paid for the premium, not tried any of the others so cannot comment.
Keep an eye on youtube as there are some watch face makers putting them on for free for a limited time, some nice ones too, just do a search.

I think I have 20+ watch faces loaded on my Galaxy Watch, and I tend to change the face every day to something with colors that coordinate with what i'm wearing that day. Call me fashionable!

I love digital watch faces and one thing I notice is regardless if it's an analog watch face or a digital watch face, they all try do too much. Over loading the watchfaces with a lot of features, fancy animations and too much photoshopping. I had a few digital ones free of charge once a upon a time on the Galaxy App Store and created them with Samsung Watch Designer. But Samsung does a poor job providing tools to developers. Limitations as well that I gave up and currently using one developers watchfaces that are so minimal that it looks beautiful. If anyone one is interested in trying it, the watch face is called SQS004_FWF

I like to see watch battery% and phone battery % on the watch face. Too many digital faces have small numbers. I can see them but a big font with black outline looks way better. A weather icon with temperature is a nice addition but gotta have both battery %.

Strangely the Samsung stock weather digi watch face gives the correct temp but weather icon always wrong like shows snow icon on a hot sunny day. If you tap icon and go into weather app it shows yesterday's date.
Nothing wrong with my gear 2. I have 2 of them and they both have same issue since most recent Note 9 update

I totally agree with Nundo23 that many are overloaded visually. I use the SpyMonster 200 from Omage Watches. Search for You can search for SpyMonster in the galaxy store or they have a direct link from your phone https://galaxy.store/SpyM200

I use a basic one with step counter, digital clock, date and temp.

I do feel that the small text on the watch faces tend to be just a bit too small to read (I don't need glasses yet according to my optom) and could be 10-20% larger and still fit the screen well.

I use Navy Salt. Crammed with features including shortcuts for timer and stopwatch. (It's not Android but Tizen, BTW).

On the first day, I was already downloading dozens and dozens of free watch faces! It's become addictive! My favorite ones are digital faces that give lots of info. But equally important is to have the info displayed in LARGE font! In the past couple years, I started using reading glasses cuz I can't see small fonts anymore, so large font is a must for me.

Facer, Watchmaker, Mr. Time, Galaxy Wear, Galaxy Store... Who has additional ones as if like to try them out too?

I love the digital face with weather icon and temp that comes stock on my Gear 2 but one of the security upgrades on my Note9 screwed it up so temp is correct but weather icon always wrong. Like it might show now icon on an 80 degree day yet show the temp correctly.

I know it is the phone because I have two gear 2 and both behave the same way on note 9 and work properly on Note 3.

I love that watch face and none of the after market ones are nearly as pretty.
