Which customizations are your implementing on your Fascinate?

Here's what I need this phone to do:

2) easier sound manipulation. there was a button on the main screen of the storm 1 to toggle silent/vibrate/normal/loud. 2 clicks to engage. simple. I suppose I'll have to get something from the marketplace though that will be trialware or something. yeeesh. toggling the rocker on the left just isn't going to cut it.

I also came from a Storm 1 and thought the same thing. You can toggle between sound "profiles" with the volume button. Clicking volume down will get you to vibrate and silent, otherwise it will adjust the notification volumes.

I actually have a question. I've downloaded LauncherPro, which I love.. but found that you can't use the Samsung widgets? If so that might keep me to TouchWiz.. because I absolutely love their Buddies Now Widget. Maybe someone can tell me if theres anything like it that will work with LP.

I think the Launcher Pro Plus widget seems better than Buddies Now. I actually at first missed the Buddies Now Widget, but I downloaded a free widget called Contact Widget that I like. Just displays the pictures of your favorite contacts and when you push it it can automatically open a call or a text or it just lists the option to do either/or. Here's what it looks like:

Yeah, it's neat to tweak with so far and obviously the entertainment value is MUCH higher, the phone is extremely improved... but the software falls short of what the storm 1 can do natively so far. the basic functionality isn't there yet.

it's also hilarious to have taken a step backwards in terms of global functionality, the storm 1 is a global phone. haha.

but so far so good I guess, 2.2 and the development boom should really help dial in the fascinate's software shortcomings.

I'm a little scared to really start tinkering because I guess these phones can be bricked if we aren't careful, whereas the storm 1 was brick-proof.

LauncherPro and WidgetLocker are my tweaks. WL is a new find and I adore it.

I don't have it anymore.. but I believe it's the Daily Bible Verse widget. Try that.
