Which Galaxy Note3?

I want to make this short as I need to purchase the phone quick.

My father is going to Brazil for a few months but he would like a better phone before he leaves. I think he has an old Galaxy s2.

He wants a big screen so I suggested a galaxy Note 3. I'm just not sure which one would work in Brazil. Does it matter which carrier it's for as long as its unlocked? GSM is preferable right? I'm looking to buy it from Amazon ASAP, so any info would be greatly appreciated thanks!

Brazil means only GSM, not preferably GSM.

nevermind that last post. my father told me that they're carriers in Brazil. thank you! Are there any devices you could recommend?
