which physical part of the htc one m7 holds the dcim/ pic and vid files

Phone went through the washing machine... I know, oops. Priceless pics stuck in the thing. It does still power on, but no screen, and to connection to sync, winblows just throws an "unrecognizable device" error. So, since I have a second m7 to play with here, is it possible to physically remove the part holding files and put it into the other phone? I understand the challenge there, I think anyway, haha, but I'm an electrical engineer with soldering skills. I also don't care about either of these phones so nothing to lose really. Thanx in advance.

The "part" is called the SoC - System on a Chip. IOW, the computer on the motherboard.

Assuming that the SoC itself didn't get damaged by shorts, etc., you could swap the chip with one on a working motherboard (it's fun desoldering an umpteen-pin surface mount device, isn't it?) and you'd have your old storage back.

(Don't they still teach worst-case design in EE courses? They did when I was in school. Worst case here is that a truck runs over your phone. Which is why you back every important file up to your computer and at least one cloud account. You probably know what "dead bug" prototyping is. Dead chips don't work that well, though.)
