Which Smartwatch with Whatsapp

Hi All,

I'd like to buy a smartwatch and I even consider buying new phone if necessary.
But before I buy anything I'd like to ask other users for help to ensure that I won't waste all the money.
So - I need a smartwatch will I will be able to use with Whatsapp and Messenger.
I've read on some forums that galaxy gear can only replay to the received message. It can not start new conversation. Even more the only last message appears on the gear's screen.
I'm looking for solution which will allow me to choose an app between Whatsapp, Messenger, SMS then choose contact/person and then start the conversation.
Is the couple of galaxy S7 and galaxy smartwatch good enough to achieve my requirements?
If not what should I choose? (If anything currently exists on market which will meet the criteria).

I can't find exact answer for my question, so - somebody might have some experience and would like to share it with me.

I don't think any allow that. Whatsapp's app for Wear OS seems to either be gone or be hit or miss (I had it before, now I can't find it...) and Messenger's app, while a 'full fledged' one, only allows for replying to incoming messages and seeing said conversation on the watch, but not initiate a new one from it.

For Whatsapp, however, you CAN start a conversation or send a message on the watch by using the Google Assistant. I think I read Messenger could do the same, but I'm not sure.
