I have been using HTC Sync 2.0.40 with Outlook to keep my calendar and contacts in sync previously on my EVO 4G. It seems every time I try HTC Sync 3.0.5511 I uninstall it and go back to 2.0.40.

2.0 Just seems to work

3.0

  • Seems to create duplicates in Outlook
  • Does not let you force a clean re-sync
  • Does not let you know what sync'd

I think I am going to stick with 2.0.40 and sync my EVO 3D with it.

Anyone using 3.0 with any decent results. I feel like you have not as much control/confidence in how the sync is working. I am more concerned about blowing out my Outlook Contacts and Calendar with it. Which it has done in the past. Word to the wise if you use this method of sync to be sure you make a back-up copy of your Outlook.pst file before attempting your first sync.

There is no indication what version Sprint and HTC are recommending to download at this time. HTC.com still does not have the EVO 3D listed in support. And Sprint has no downloads other than manuals.

Using WiFi

Has anyone found a decent Wi-Fi Sync. That is the only thing I really miss. I was using Chapura Pocket Mirror way back when I had a Pre.

Sync Software for Mobile Smartphones to Mac and Windows - Sync Mac and PC! Missing Sync did not have good luck with it.

CompanionLink requires you use there Deja Android Apps.

Thoughts?

I just answered my own question. Looks like you can only use HTC Sync 3.0.5511 with the EVO 3D.

Seems they have added the conflict resolution settings. Worked fine. Also works fine with HTC Sense Online.

I'm assuming you use Gmail.....? If you do...there is NO need to sync with a cable. Set up gmail to work with IMAP. This will sync everything you send/do in Outlook with Gmail. Move all of your contacts to Google (not Outlook or local database on phone). Use the Google Calendar as apposed to the 'stock' Outlook Calendar (you can 'import' this Calendar to Outlook). This is the process of moving to the Cloud which is pretty much what Google and Android is all about. If you do it right, you can still you Outlook and your handset but never need to physically sync....this is way better imo.

I was aware of this method however, this is not the solution I am looking for.

Thanks for taking the time though.

Is it possible to have my personal Outlook calendar be auto synced with Google Calendar so that appointments made in Outlook automatically appear on my phone and vice versa? I prefer to continue to use Outlook's calendar as my main time management software.

Read my post about using Companion link with Outlook being your primary source for syncing with Google Calendar and Gmail Contacts.
