While replacing my screen I broke a connector that looks like a piece of paper, do I need it?

while replacing my screen i broke a connector that looks like a piece of paper do i need it

my phone is an htc one m8 when i was removing some of the internal parts there is a what looks like a piece of paper but i am affraid it is more than that does anyone have any idea what it is for it is located near the camera on the inside of the casiswhen the cover is off the phone the paper is to the left of the rear facing camera.

Perhaps some electrical insulator? Since it would have cost time and money to design, make and fit it, it must be needed.
