Keep in mind as well that internal storage and RAM are two separate things. Moving apps to SD doesn't increase the amount of RAM available for running processes.

Based on the evidence, my theory is that moving apps to SD is actually causing an increase in use of RAM (memory) which is subsequently contributing to resource issues that cause the Rosie redraw or Sense crash/restart.

paintdrinkingpete, Synycalwon, thank you both. I appreciate very much how this forum seems to always stay civil even when folks have differing views. Well, at least it seems to ... ;-)

Really - I didn't know that. I actually have experimented with that with a couple of apps that had widgets I wanted to test the usefulness of and didn't notice any difference whatsoever. I would have to assume then that there have been some measurements of some kind taken that I haven't seen. And if you see difference with the naked eye then you've got a faster eye than I do, for sure.

...Some apps, too, obviously have to run from internal. But I find the Bolt has enough CPU power that I don't notice any speed difference one from one location versus the other.

I agree, the difference in loading speed is negligible when comparing internal vs. SD storage. The difference in speed could only be noticed by a computer, app monitor, or humming bird lol. Apps that have widgets have to be stored internally because that's how android operates. If the app doesn't have a widget and doesn't allow Apps2SD, well that's where rooting has its benefits.

As for a (good) reason to store apps on SD, are they safer on SD, i.e. won't be deleted if you factory reset?

As far as I know, if you factory reset, you still have to re-install those apps. The data may still be there, but it's essentially worthless.
