Whitestone Dome Won't Recognize My Fingerprints

I just had a perfect Whitestone install but now it won't recognize my fingerprints. I had 3 fingerprints registered preinstall and wouldn't recognize any of those, so removed them and tried to re-register. Followed some tips to try registering with damp or moisturized fingertips and finally got 100% on both my thumb and index finger so I assumed I was ok. Exit out and try to get back in and now it won't recognize the re-registered fingerprints. I installed one on my husband's Note 20 about a week ago and his worked flawlessly without re-registering.

Any thoughts or tips? I have a spare so I could possibly reinstall but hate to waste it. This is frustrating...I've had Whitestone on my last two phones with zero issues.

Yep. It was turned on before I did the install.

I installed my husband's on hos new N20U last week with zero FPS issue.

Samsung is telling me to remove and try a reinstall and issue is screen detector since FPS worked prior to screen protector installation.

PIA esp if it fails a second time.

Problem solved! Found some ideas to fix the problem and not sure if one or a combination worked but it seems to be ok.

It was recommended to try putting several extra doses of UV light to make sure LOCA fully cured. I did that a couple of times.

It was also suggested to re-register fingerprints but make sure fingers were well moisturized or slightly damp. I wet my hands and only slightly wiped them dry.

Last step was to re-register fingerprints but not press too hard - rather keep a fairly normal press akin to what you normally open phone with - and then once you get 100% and save to go in and double check to make sure fingerprint is actually registered and accepted.

I did all of the above and things are working ok. Maybe not quite as responsive as without but enough to be ok.

Hi.

A couple of tips I picked up when setting up the finger prints are.

When setting up take x3 scans with each thumb and then rotate the phone around when taking further prints of each thumb so your phone can read both thumbs from the same finger print scan. Scan your prints as you would normally hold the phone.

Also using two fingers when setting up one fingerprint works pretty well.

Go into Settings . Biometrics and Security. Biometrics Preferences . Turn Off Screen Transition Effect.

Then go into Settings and search for Optomise Battery Usage. Tap in Optimise Battey Usage tap to show All and scroll down to com.samsung.android.biom and toggle Off

For me this improved the fps on my Note.

I also have dry skin on my fingers and so find it sometimes beneficial to moisten my fingertip by breathing on it before unlocking the phone.

Hello,

Thank you for using Dome glass and discussing good ways to use fingerprint sensor.

Your tips are already wonderful, if I can add more to those,

Firstly we recommend customers register the fingerprint 3 times when they went through difficulty with it, one time before the installation and 2 times after installation.

Secondly, installation guide bar is very important for working with fingerprint sensor.
Since installation guide bar presses properly to make exact adhesive layer thickness, please make sure to remove the installation guide bar after checking that the adhesive spread completely.

And last, UV curing is also very essential, we recommend to observe the curing time following a manual.

If you need any further assistance, please feel free to contact through our website!

Thank you.

I cannot find this using this description. Can you screenshot?

I've been wondering if it has something to do with the different screen tech on the Note20u. It seems less sensitive with the dome glass on than either the S20 or S10 series that I owned previously, to both fingerprint recognition and touch interaction.

This is really strange but after fiddling with a fickle FPS after installing my Whitestone Dome and being extremely frustrated I thought I would try toggling the touch sensitivity on and off. I did that and voila it seems to be working...EXCEPT in going back in and looking at the touch sensitivity setting I see it is turned OFF!

Yes that is right..turning OFF the sensitivity actually worked better than having it turned on! I have had it off for a couple of days and this "fix" is still working well for me.

Tried this and it worked as well. Wow, that was a surprise, thanks for the suggestion!

There's a trick that I've learned to get the fingerprint sensor to be much much more responsive and it has to do with the installation. So what you have to do is basically when you were curing the glue with the UV light, when you get to the area around the fingerprint scanner only put it on for 15 seconds and then apply pressure around the fingerprints while it's drying but you have to make sure not to do it too quickly otherwise the glue will leak out.
