anyone using any of the following from Sprint for this phone:
1. TEP
2. Equipment Replacement Program
2. Repair service.

I have always carried insurance on my phones for at least the first few months I own them, then usually end up canceling before the end of the first year. but now that I have the phone for 20 months, I am actually tempted/calculating whether or not it is worth it. The equipment replacement program is 5.00/month and covers pretty much everything the TEP does except repair as they will just replace the device instead.

so anyone using any of the above?

$5.00/Mo??? I have to pay $8.00/Mo for TEP. Thinking that I will keep it for about a year since by then I may be looking at upgrading my phone and selling by E4GT. :-$

I used to have insurance with Sprint for $8.00/mo for years. Never used it until I got my BBerry Tour a couple of years ago and it had serious problems. How did the insurance work? They replaced my brand new, $350 phone with a refurbished one...which didn't work. Then they replaced it again, with another refurbished one..which didn't work. Finally, they replaced it a 3rd time, with a refurbished one, which only semi-worked and no matter how I tried to explain that if I bought the phone brand new 30 days before, I should get a NEW replacement, but Sprint didn't think so. So I cancelled my insurance.

Get the equipment replacement program, except don't they send you to the Sprint store and try to get someone there to "repair" the phone before replacing your phone (with a "refurbished" one)? Make sure you read the fine print.

I went with the Best Buy black tie service. Haven't had to use the service yet but the advantage there is no deductible. Its $9 dollars a month so its almost the same as Sprint.

I'm considering just buying a Squaretrade warranty this time around. Around $100 (after referral discount) for two years. $50 deductible for accidental damage only (no deductible for hardware failures) and covers repairs and/or replacement up to the full retail price of the device. Also, Squaretrade covers water damage including immersion, although it does not cover loss or theft.

Not quite as convenient as walking into a Sprint repair location with TEP, but I think it's a better value personally.

I got mine at the same time i purchased my phone on wirefly. 69.99/year, cheaper than doing it through sprint and same coverage.
Also, if you don't get the $8/month and only the $5/month on sprint then say bye bye if your crack the screen. They will only replace your phone if there's some electrical issues, etc with it (as long as you didn't wet it). if you crack the screen, they will not replace it. Oh and it's either a 50 or 100 dollar deductible depending on the phone.

I contacted Sprint to see what the differences are. I'm def. sticking with the TEP for the better coverage. Anyway you go, you still get a Refurb phone :'( But it's much better than forking over $500 for a new one. Here's a link the Associate gave me: Services Another one: Total Equipment Protection

this is where i am stuck, lets say something happens at 18 months (20 for upgrade under new terms) that is 144 + 100 deductable = 244 out of pocket in 18 months, for another 250 i could just buy a new phone w/o contract. if the phone breaks in the first year when still covered by man. warranty it is 35.00 to have sprint repair it if you don't have TEP.

so, i just can't decide what I am going to do, i guess i still have another 3 weeks to decide (as long as they still give you 30 days to sign up after purchase of the phone)

I believe you are able to cancel anytime! But you can only enroll within your first 30 days or when you get a new phone. (Open enrollment ends today 9/30/11 for everyone past their 30 days. They were running a special for month of Sept.) I initially declined the protection but added it this week since I'm such a clutz sometimes. LOL
