I have a few questions before biting the bullet. How is your battery life so far. I have a S9+ right now. I don't need amazing battery life but would like it to at least be comparable. Has anyone tried unlocking with glasses on? What about with sunglasses on? Is it everything you hoped for? 😂😉😎

I got mine today, the transfer from my Pixel 3XL was seamless as it should be. After having every Note till the 8, and the Pixel 2&3 XLs I decided to move to a smaller phone, that may be my biggest issue.

I have unlocked without glasses, with readers, with sunglasses, and in a dark room, with no problems at all.

Have only had it for a couple hours so more opinions to come but so far I like it.

*raises hand*

I just got finished setting everything up. I'm really digging it. Came from a P2 XL. Loving the new P4 goodies.

I'll post some battery info after done more playing around with it

I had no idea you could swipe down from anywhere on the screen to open the notification shade. That was the one thing that kept me using Nova so long.

Bonus!!

I didn't realize how slow the 2xl was until playing with this 4xl. Not that the 2 is a sloth but there's a noticable difference.

My only gripe so far after a few hours is face unlock. Sometimes I just want to check the time and not get into the phone. Not a deal breaker. Just something to adapt to.

The scathing articles about battery life that made me doubt my purchase before I got the phone did not prove true.

I am getting at least similar battery performance to my Pixel 3 based on my first two days. Admittedly, I need more time to fully confirm this.

Want to make your phone feel faster? Go into developer options and change these three settings from 1x to .5x. Thank me later...

I agree. Battery-gate was a big nothing burger.

I had forgotten about that trick - haven't done it since back in the Motorola droid days - thanks.

Forgot which one you got, Pixel 4 or the 4 XL?

Did you transfer with the cable?

What if anything does it not transfer?

Does it transfer all phone log and text messages with photos?

Does it transfer app settings? For example I use nine for email does in transfer that or do I have to export my settings and import into nine and I also use MS Authenticator App. Do I have set that up again?

I have the Pixel 3XL as well and need to setup the new 4 XL.

thanks,

Mike

Everything should transfer all my phone logs, and texts transferred. App data transferred for the most part. All my Gmail accounts were there. You will have to setup your home screens again though. I used the cable.

This is combined thoughts on the phone for the 12hrs I have had it so far from two different posts.

My White 128gb XL arrived yesterday. So far it is a good phone. That said not sure it is much of an update over my 3XL. The screen is narrower than the 3XL but so is the phone altogether. It also seems weird having the status bar so far down the phone screen after having it right on the edge of the top with the 3XL and the notch.

Super solid feel though even a little heavier than the 3XL. It just feels right in your hand. I think part of that has to do with it being slightly narrower.

Only taken a few side by side shots in one lighting condition so far but the 4 produces warmer pictures than my 3 did at least outside in the sun.

Since mine arrived yesterday I was impressed with the battery life while I set the phone up. The phone arrived with 52% battery charge and between setup, downloading and installing 75 apps, using it to reply to email, texts, web browsing, and about 30min of mild game play I got 2hrs 45min screen on time in 7hrs and 14min it took me to get it to 1%. No I don't have a screen shot of the usage stats though for exact amount of usage.

I typically don't finish a day with more than 4-4.5 hrs screen on time in my heaviest usage unless I am traveling in an airport or something and then I normally have a battery pack. So far not dissapointed with it in the half day I have had it.

I never had a xl pixel. Just the standard pixel 2. But had the note 9. Found the note 9 a little big to fit in my jeans. How do you guys find the size of the XL? Pocketable?
Would like the XL for battery purposes.

I did use the cable, everything did transfer. Some of my apps (ADT, iRobot, MyQ, Ecobee, etc) required me to login again, otherwise text, calls, everything came over great.

I had a bit of an issue getting the esim working on T-Mobile but got it done.

After setting everything up and using the phone for email, social media, etc. I do miss the finger print reader more than I thought I would. Otherwise, so far I like it.
