I'm still rockin' mine. I have absolutely loved this phone. Best phone I've ever had by a long shot!!
Ya I would like a new one but nothing seems worthy except the 6p which is bigger than I would like but my eyes have been getting bad so maybe bigger will be better?
The other thing is that my N4 still works perfectly and is still buttery smooth so maybe I'll wait till the N7. No need to waste money although a better screen and a finger print sensor would be nice. I mean the N4 is only a 720 screen, 1080 and amoled screens must be very nice and easy to see.

Still rocking mine as well and love it. Marshmallow even makes the small battery bearable. If it weren't for a larger battery and a better camera, I would probably keep it another year

Definitely a bigger battery would be nice, the camera is fine for me but a better one would be nice. the new screen's nowadays are an attraction for me as well.

I still use mine some of the time. Still works great, and I think it's just the right size for a phone. I wish it had a much better camera, and 32 GB instead of 8.

Rowoad, how much of a hassle is it to put Marshmallow on a N4?

Not much harder than any other rom actually. I used Nexus Root Toolkit which did all the job to unlock/root the device and then I just flashed a custom rom running Marshmallow (mine is called Chroma).

It's a good device, the old 4. I passed mine to a friend recently. She likes very much. :)

My kids are rocking the N4s in the house and I just upgraded to the N6P. I love the new phone!

I bought an N4 last year for testing different OSes on.. I have installed Firefox OS, Ubuntu Touch, Sailfish, and LuneOS, as well as various AOSP versions and CM12. It's an extremely versatile device, and is at the upper limit for size that I can really enjoy and use one-handed. The camera is decent and the screen is very good. It's not my main phone, so I don't mind flashing it to something new.

I bought my Nexus 4 when it first came out. Last month I installed Marshmallow (Chroma ROM) to keep it up to date; it really revitalized the phone...snappier now and every bug I had is gone. Other than the lousy camera and lack of LTE (without the mod) and the missing AT&T LTE bands, I really can't justify an upgrade; no eye popping new features with the newer Nexus phones. In fact I just ordered a battery, as I am sure I am getting close to its lifetime.

I did it pretty easily. See this:

I'm still using that setup, same ASOP ROM + Gapps, same TWRP, same Super SU. I use the Nexus 4 daily (I'm typing this on it) and this combination has been fast, smooth and absolutely rock-solid stable. Really runs beautifully, highly recommend you try it. I've had the Nexus 5 and now a Nexus 6, but this runs so well I keep finding it in my hand because I just like using it. It's supposed to be retired to test duty but...here it is, in my hand again...

I replaced mine in mid-December with a Zenfone 2. Two reasons: the battery life, which was lousy to begin with, had grown unacceptably short, and it often would freeze for no apparent reason. It's now used around the house for non-essential tasks such as controlling my Roku players.

I just replaced the battery in my 3 year old Nexus 4 today.
Great phone, it does all I need a phone for.

Had to replace the screen recently due to a drop, it is now back to its awesomeness!
I have had a few ups and downs with it..but mostly ups :)..
Going to finish 3 years soon..and still running strong.

I am. My best phone to date was my Treo 680, but the N4 is running strong with no issues (Lollipop). I constantly fight App issues, but the Phone and Android seems to be solid.

Why the Holmes ROM instead of the Chroma (unless they are the same, please forgive my ignorance)?
