in your opinion was it/do you think it will be worth it? i had been planning to switch and with double data i guess there will be no better time. i already ordered it on amazon for $150 last weekend so it will be on it's way soon, eve while i'm still on the fence.

just a couple questions to help me find out if i am making the right decision. is cdma 3g really that slow? i'm coming from a nexus s on t-mobile and i've asked my friends who have verizon 3g phones (droid incredible and iphone 4/4s) and they really don't have a problem with the 3g speeds they have. i assume it's nothing to call home about as compared to at&t and t-mobile hspa+ speeds but it is more consistent and it does have the best coverage compared to any other carrier where i live (central/northern nj). i barely travel abroad so having a world phone isn't THAT important to me right now. i guess i can use my lg optimus t and nexus s if i ever need a phone abroad.

i do know that lte is expanding very quickly on verizon and should be covering their 3g footprint by the end of 2013 and by covering over 200 million people in lte service it might be a little ealier. by that time lte radios should be smaller and more battery efficient but should we assume there will be another nexus phone on verizon next year or in 2013? it seems like i have already made up my mind in the most part but i just want to hear what you guys have to say about switching to verizon in the recent months and the quality compared to that of your previous service provider. thanks so much. :)

I switched for the phone and the service... even abandoning my grandfathered in unlimited plan on AT&T. I liked the double data promo (4GB for 30/mo). I live in a major metro. area and I switched to Google Voice at the same time knocking off $30/mo for texting. My wife and I both have the nexus for around 60/mo per phone. 700 min shared, unlimited SMS through Google Voice (blocked SMS on my primary number), and 4GB LTE Data per phone.

I also dropped my company paid plan for this phone (yes i wanted it that bad) I had a paid unlimited plan with wifi tethering on sprint and dropped it to pick up this phone on Verizon.

The 3g gets about 4-500 kilobytes a second from my experience which is good from almost anything except stream HD movies. It steams music just fine while doing navigation or playing online games. Ill be in NW NJ in 8 days so i will let you know if you dont get your phone by then.

From my personal opinion, Verizon has a MAJOR headquarter in NJ so i dont think you will have a problem ;).

I switched from sprint because it was horrible... 3g was horrible on sprint calls were perfectly fine.. 4g wimax sucked and couldnt penetrate a wet paper bag... SO watching videos was non existent unless on wifi or outside in a clear 4g area... Verizon's 4G lte is all its cranked up to be.. Double the data as you mentioned is about as good as you will get next to unlimited. Im loving the service and phone right now.. Just curious about the reception of the GN because my rezound seemed to have better radios..

I left Sprint for Verizon about 2 weeks ago. I had the Rezound and after 2 lemons, I decided to go with the Galaxy Nexus. I will say I absolutely love Verizon's network. There data is leaps and bounds ahead of Sprint. Don't get me wrong, I was happy with Sprint, but my Evo4G was becoming unbearable and there weren't any other phones that were catching my eye. My mom wanted the RAZR... so we switched. I'm happy with my choice. I get corporate discount with Sprint and VZW so that was not a factor as far as cost. But the DATA... the data... is blazing fast. Not to mention some of the best Customer Service I have experienced in a long time. I definitely think you are making a god choice. I'm sure you will be happy with your Galaxy Nexus and the service behind it.

I switched from Sprint due to lack of 4G coverage and am loving the network. I went with the Rezound due to the reception issues and battery life of the Nexus. Getting over the cost difference is tough but man, what a network!

been with VZW for service.....passed on all sub-network devices. Retail nexus on Verizon....years have paid off......Thin sexy LTE......take that iPhone block of bore....

I tried to go to Verizon because I get horrible AT&T reception at my house.

But my Amazon phone showed up dead yesterday - could not turn it on.

Has me majorly doubting my choice as I send it back to Amazon and have to wait for a replacement.

I get anywhere from 800Kbps to 2Mbps on 3G. Good for pretty much anything on the go besides streaming HQ video. On 4G, anywhere from 15Mbps to 45Mbps. Good for everything. :P

I switched to from AT&T to Verizon back in August? I think. Whenever the last day was that Verizon offered unlimited data. I was happy with AT&T, but I was on my parents plan and I knew I'd have to get off eventually. I had to switch then or miss out on my own grandfathered unlimited data plan. Verizon's 3G network was a downgrade for me but their 4G is fudging amazing!

I saw this thread in another section about getting unlimited data. Not sure if anyone is still having luck with this but it's worth checking out.

i have been considering returning to vzw for the nexus for about a month. I'm off contract with at&t on an old 3g iphone. but i still have cold feet after an ugly billing problem i had with verizon in the 90's, and i have unlimited data over here at at&t as well. so, with possible nexii in at&t's future (who knows?), i am content to sit back and wait more. it doesnt look worth it to me for a number of minor reasons that kind of add up.

but i also like the phone from here, and may eventually make a move if i need to.

I switched from Sprint (HTC Evo) after 15 years. I think the GN is a great phone, and the network is clearly superior to Sprint's. I'm very happy with both the phone and the network after one week.

So, i just checked my friends verizon bill online and she gave me the grandfathered unlimited plan without adding the "unlimited hotspot" i asked for. Oh well, I am definitely not complaining. I hope that they dont fix this in the near future.

my total bill comes to $71.98 (20% company discount)

450 mins
unlim text
unlim data

AMAZING!

what does your unlimited show up now as? Mine says:

If you want free tethering, try this app. The app isn't free ($10) but that's 1/3 of the price you'd pay Verizon for just one month of tethering. And it works without rooting your phone.
