Who would purchase a case that surrounded the droid at the expense of the keyboard?

why spend the extra money to buy the Droid over the eris if you're not going to use the keyboard? I love the slideout. Especially for gensoid and snesoid use.

Bigger display, more powerful, better power management, 2.0.1, Nav... I could think of a few reason..

Seidio is developing one as we speak. I use an innocase for my droid and it is great. I keep checking their site to see if the docks have been released. I plan on getting both the home dock and car dock. I just don't like the feel of my phone without a case.

I said this very thing in another thread. Having a thin case to cover the entire phone would be great and I'd be in line for one.

having talked to Otterbox on numerous occasions on other cases, and also contacted them on a case for the droid. Natasha got back with me and tld me she has nothing telling her a case is in development, but it has been requested by a lot of people. I also know they work with a company called ram mounts who could develop a windshield mount for a droid in an otterbox to make full use of the GPS. just some more input. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I couldn't buy a case that took away the keyboard. While some don't use the keyboard I do and love it. I would find it extremely difficult writting out long messages with the onscreen keyboard. I love having both because when I get bored with one I just use the other.

i would love to see a nice silicone case! even if that meant sealing up the keyboard forever. Its the only way to have a slim case on the droid

Never, ever, in a million years. And I have Swype. The physical keyboard was a major selling point for me, and in fact, its absence would be a complete deal breaker.

I'd buy an Otterbox and the related 2.5" duty belt holster in a heartbeat. I've written them as well, and no Defender (or any other) case in the till yet as far as CS knows. But, will if demand warrants it pssibly. It would have to kill the physical keyboard though I'd figure.

My big fingers (and I play intricate metal guitar) just can't seem to get cool with ANY of the keyboards (hoping they grow on me soon before I go back to Blackberry Storm II). Keys are one of my reall issues with the Droid. Umm, aside from email integration and no decent Yahoo IM Client.

A high grade, high gloss silicone cover like the ones Verizon sells for the Eris would be great. Just in some more colors than they usually offer! I get tired of seeing the same clear, black, blue and pink!

I have been looking for one! My Droid never slides open -- I don't ever use the physical keyboard!

I would prefer one that was a soft ring around the outside. I have the Skinomi full skin cover, so wouldn't need a back to it. But I would like to protect the edges for situations where "gravity happens".

I would. :) I rarely use the physical keyboard. I'm from iPhone Land, so I loooove the Droid's touch screen.

If you guys didn't see it, Otterbox announced their tandem series at CES, for the Palm Pre for now. I am assuming they will be offering one for the Droid, which wouldn't hinder the keyboard :) You can see the tandem series here :D

Definitely. Even though I use the physical keyboard from time to time, I absolutely loathe it.

i never use my physical keyboard. would love to have the otterbox. i love their cases for my berry. im all for protecting my PD aka droid. yes i named my droid.

The Droid also has a different (and better) processor/gpu. And larger screen, and currently it has the advantage of Android 2.0. Although yes, I love the keyboard and use it all the time.

I would settle for a gel skin the covered up the keyboard. If I really needed it, just pull it off quickly.
