Traded in my 7 last year for the 8 and I couldn't be happier. Tempted with the Pro but I know what I have. Switching back to Google Fi next month so if the temptation becomes overwhelming I can always get a sweet deal there. Be curious to see all the reviews over the next month or so.

Yeah, that hazel looks nice but I think with my next device I'll be going back to black too. Like you, mine is always in a case so the color of the device is kinda pointless. I regret getting my 8 Pro in Bay and I won't even rock it in a clear case, so I'll be going with a safe choice of black next time. (Bay looked cool in pics and videos but when I got it in person I thought it looked a little too ... zesty (as Floss would say) LOL)
I am like you, I dont like flashy. I stepped out with the Bay

Is it just me or doesn't seem like a lot of people pre ordered this time around?

Don't get me wrong, I almost wasn't going to either lol.

Yes, it does seem that way. I came here after the "Made by Google" presentation and this thread has since grown, but was small yesterday.

Pre-ordered the Pixel 9 Pro XL Hazel, 512GB. Bit overpriced, but ready to come back to Google and give them another chance. My last Pixel was a Pixel 6. At the time, I just didn't think Google was good enough. I loved the camera, but the rest of the experience was lacking. Not to mention all the bugs and software issues from getting day-one updates -- something that I've argued isn't as much of an advantage as Pixel-die hard fans claim it to be. I often felt like a beta-tester as a Pixel owner.

But I'm hoping and seeing signs that Google may have gotten it together this time around. Let's see!

I was Pixel 6 to the 8 Pro. It's a more polished experience. I think you'll be pleased.

As a very happy P8P owner, there's no need for me to upgrade. The 9P seems like a very solid phone but at $100 more in price over the 8P there's no standout feature(s) on the 9P that is pushing me to pull the trigger.
Yesterday's presentation seemed more about AI than the hardware. I don't really care a lot about the AI features they showed and a lot of them may come to the 8P anyway.

It did seem like Moto and Samsung were front and center for the first portion. I tuned in hoping to hear something about Android 15. No dice, but I didn't get my hopes up too much.

But yeah, phones seem really nice but I'll stick with my 8 Pro through this cycle. However, my wife's 7 Pro's life hangs in the balance, but that's up to her.

Anyone think there's really any reason to upgrade from the 7P? My phone is in pristine condition and works just fine.

Does anyone feel the tech and features are worthy of the cash? I'm not a power user FWIW

If it's doing everything you need it to do and you're happy with it then "no". For now I'm hanging on to my 8....it's been a great phone.

I went with Best Buy this time around too.
How does that work? Best Buy will give me $1099 for my iPhone 14 Pro and $999 for my Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus. Does the mean whatever phone I choose to trade in that's what they will take off the price of the Pixel 9 Pro XL? Plus taxes of course. Also this is for the unlocked model.

I always picked the unlock model. You can do everything online select the phone you want to trade in run through the steps and check out. When it comes close to release date will get a message to come in with your trade-in phone and purchase your Pixel. I like to throw my phone on my BB card. Don't forget you're also will get a $200 BB gift card with the purchase. I believe they will email it to you.

When I go to check out it gives me the option to have it shipped to my house since my local Best Buy is temporarily closed. How does that work then?
