Who's tried the manual Froyo update yet?

The latest story on AndroidCentral gives the 2.2 download and instructions on how to manually update. But, I was wondering if anyone has tried it yet? And if you have, was it for the T-Mobile or AT&T phone?

One of my concerns is if this process requires me to reinstall all of my applications.

I don't think it does unless you are rooted. Unfortunately, I bought a rooted nexus T_T Time to start the process.

No, you don't have to be rooted. In fact the original post of the Froyo update only worked for non-rooted N1's (T-Mobile).
There is a pre-rooted verion posted at modaco as Phil's post points to.
Phil says it works with AT&T. But, I want to stay non-rooted and keep my warranty intact.

According to some posts an AT&T version will soon be posted.

Anyone know if it?

I'm typing this on my wifi iPad tethered to my n1 running froyo. The phone is fast the screen is smoother and flash works flawlessly. now this phone has totally demolished the iPhone.

I just updated my phone, it works great, and I just found two apps that don't work properly: HelixLauncher (forceclose regularly and restarts) and Move to SD in the Application settings is not working, this might just be a settings issue. Other than that, the phone is working as fast as promised and the animations and scrolling are fantastic. One more thing, I got Flash working, and I can say that DolphinHD is a little slow, working a little sluggish but it works.

Oh... one more thing, battery life so far, it's looking great, I am playing heavily with the phone right now (internet, video, music, downloads, etc.) and it appears that battery is really improved.

Mine is working great. Two things that are an issue on my side are the HTC keyboard and handcent is force closing and acting funky. A nice rom will be out soon enough so will wait it out. It is fast though!

I'm loving Froyo, and I as well am noticing a few things. First, the 3G speeds seem slower for some odd reason. I'm in Lower Manhattan, basically unable to stream Youtube at all in most cases. I dunno if its just me, but the keyboard input languages seems to be limited to the latin based languages only.

Froyo is working great for me.
At a high level I've noticed
* Slight tweaks to gChat and IM apps (different spacing and always-white color scheme)
* Camera Enhancements
* Speed increases
* Built in tethering (YES!)
* Flash (not great, but hey, we got it)
* Other stuff I'm sure I'm missing.

I think the store on sd card only works once the phone memory is full.

No, actually the apps themselves have to be written to be able to be moved to the SD card. Obviously, existing apps were created before this option was available. So, look for future updates from your app developers.

Meanwhile, I am still waiting for the AT&T version of Froyo :(

I am loving Froyo. I am rooted and was running a Modaco ROM so I used the file he created and everything seems to be going fine.
