Audio alert and message that voice mail has been updated

I get an alert sound and message that voice mail has been updated every time I turn my phone on. I have auto updates turned off and there is no change in the voice mail setup. How do I make this stop?

What are you using for voicemail? You could get Google Voice and disable the other app all together if you can't fix this issue. Have you tried changing the notification setup. It could be there is a setting buried in there for the voice or perhaps setting the sound to "none/silent" will end the issue. It almost sounds like something else like a phone setting to read notifications is the issue. Does it only read the voicemail notification? If not look in Accessibility, I believe, for a setting to read or say things that appear on your device. Of course if this is the case it should be reading everything to you, but it's worth a check.
