Why am I not able to access the media in the default app in LG G4?

not able to access the media in the default app in LG G4

I was able to properly connect my phone to the pc and then could access all the files. I transferred some songs and images and copied the songs in the "music" folder and the images in "DCIM" folder in the phone memory and not the sd card. My problem is that I am not able to access these songs or pictures if I use the default apps. I installed an app from the play store and now I can see the images through the app, for the songs too I had to install an app. is there something wrong with my phone? did anyone face the same issue? I know I can still access the files through other apps but I would like to know why not through the default app.. would soft or hard reset help in this case? kindly help.

Make sure the formats are natively supported by your device. What app are you using to try and view said files that isn't working for you?
