Wifi connecting problem

I have an issue with my Verizon S5. I suddenly have a problem connecting to wifi networks. When I go into the settings>wifi I can see networks no problem but when I select one to connect to there are two options, connect and cancel. For some reason the connect option is grayed out, well actually its light blue. The network I'm trying to connect to is secure and I have the password but even when I enter the password I can't select the connect option. I connected to a hotel network just last night no problem and today I have this. Any suggestions?

Re: Wifi connecting problem

I cannot tap Connect, its light blue vs dark blue, like its not available to select. I tried a reboot a couple times. I read the link you attached and did the cache partition wipe. Didn't seem to help.

Re: Wifi connecting problem

In Settings>Wi-fi, tap Advanced. Make sure "Avoid poor connections" is unchecked. Anything else there checked?

Re: Wifi connecting problem

I'm not sure where you are seeing that option I don't see any option like that in the wifi advanced options. I'm on 5.0 if that matters. Only other options in the advanced section that are checked is Always allow scanning and Smart network switch.

Re: Wifi connecting problem

Advanced wi-fi options can vary between devices--sometimes even the same device, depending on the carrier branding.

Try turning off Smart Network Switch, although that probably won't do anything.

Re: Wifi connecting problem

No help. I rebooted after I changed it just for the heck of it. I just went down the road and stopped at a fast food place to see if maybe it was the network I'm trying to connect to and got the same result. This is really odd it just started doing this today. I haven't changed anything.

Re: Wifi connecting problem

So it seems I can connect to open networks but when I try to connect to secure networks the connect option is not available. Any ideas?

Re: Wifi connecting problem

Well I have been working on this problem with no success yet. I had a long chat session with Verizon last week and they told me to take my phone in and get it replaced. I personally don't think its a hardware issue so I'm still working on it for now until I have time to take it in. The problem is still with most secure networks only, open networks seem to be fine. I attached a screen shot to show what the problem is. I just don't get the option to try and log in password on not. Still looking for clues. I'm considering a factory reset before I take the phone in but even if that fixes it will it return??Screenshot_2015-03-12-13-32-41[1].jpg

Re: Wifi connecting problem

Update. I took my phone into the Verizon store yesterday for this problem. What I learned is that the "connect" option isn't available until you enter enough characters into the password line. If you type in 8 characters, any 8, the connect option wakes up and you can select it. That's all well and good but the network I was trying to connect to when I noticed this has only a 6 number password. So in other words when I enter the password I never get the option to connect to it. Anyone see the same behavior on their device? Does anyone know what I might do to work around the problem?

Re: Wifi connecting problem

Thanks Javier I will give that a try. I won't back to the place I had the problem until next month but I will surely try the workaround.
