Why am I unable to update my things with 64GB of storage?

Hi, I got a 64GB flash drive, and it does show up in my settings. However, whenever I try to update an app, it doesn't work and says I don't have any storage. I don't know what to do. I restarted my device, still same thing. I don't know if I should uninstall the app and reinstall, because I'll lose all my progress, such as if I'm level 123 in a game, etc. Help?!

Updating is done to internal storage, not to anything external (like a flash drive or SD card). Move all your media (videos, music, pictures) to the flash drive, restart the phone and see if you have enough free space to update things.
