Why are all 3rd party camera apps don't use the 2.4 aperture on Samsung Galaxy S9?

Android Central Question

I have downloaded some 3rd party camera apps from Play Store (A Better Camera, Open Camera to name a few). I noticed that all images taken with those apps do not use the 2.4 aperture even though I'm capturing images in bright daylight.

I hate how the stock camera app overprocesses pictures which makes foliage looking like it was an oil painting.

Anyway I’m sure that Samsung does not surface that sw api. It’s not part of the API 2 standard

I noticed the same thing. Third-party camera apps have a very shallow depth of field (lower f-stop).

Because the S9 is the first phone with variable aperture and the 3rd party apps aren't programmed to recognize or change that. It will be up to all developers to add the feature, if they decide to at all.
