Why are my files duplicating?

Hi. I'm posting this as it's a question I had and couldn't find a solution via Google. I have found the answer to my question and hope that it helps others with the same problem. Also it would be nice to know if any of you also experienced the same and how you dealt with it.

I had this problem with my P20 pro where everytime I opened a pdf file in my 'files' app, it would open a default program Adobe Fill & Sign. After that, there'd be 2 of the same file in my 'files' app. I would have to go to the optimiser, cleanup and manually delete duplicate files everytime I'd see them.

Today, almost 2years later, I decided to try another app as my default pdf opener, I downloaded Adobe Acrobat Reader from the app store. Viola my problems are solved. I deleted the Fill & Sign app and am much happier.

Have any of you had a similar problem? Would like to know.

Thanks for the tip! Although I've never used that app before, that seems to make sense, because in order to make the PDF signable, the app probably needs to create a duplicate (or perhaps it does so to preserve the original PDF without anything filled in by the user).

The app didn't make a duplicate I of the one I signed. It would create a duplicate everytime I opened a file, even if I was just reading the file. Weird.

Hmm -- so if you open a file just to read it, it makes a duplicate, but if you sign that file, it goes back to being a single file? Can you test that out?

When I'd sign and comment on a file, it would change both files.

I actually think there was a error with the Fill & Sign app itself.

Once I changed over to Adobe Acrobat Reader, all was sorted. Only thing now is it doesn't duplicate files, it edits the original.

Oh, I thought you said that if you signed a file, you wouldn't end up with a duplicate.

It's worth sending some feedback to the developer about this, since I'm not sure if it's intentional or a glitch.
