Why are my message threads disappearing (S4)?

Need help with "my info/me contact" on s4

Hey all!

I have an s4 on att and I have an issue that I am at my wits end with.

In my stock messaging app, my own contact picture in message threads disappears. I added a pic of myself to the "me contact" under my contacts. It disappears and is replaced by the little creepy blue smiley face. It's at random and shows up again when I send a text. This doesn't happen with any of my other contacts, their pics always stay and don't disappear. My own contact pic is always present in my contact list however, just disappears in messaging. I've read synced my google, Google plus and Gmail accounts. Deleted my photo and added it again. Turned my phone off and turned it back on. Even reset my phone. I can't delete and start over my me contact either. Can anyone help me with this? Please? It's highly annoying and I can't find a fix to it. I just want my own contact pic always present in my message threads... Thanks guys!!!

Go to your Google account (on a browser) and add your picture to your Google+ profile.

I did that too and it still did it. I just turned off google+ and the pic is still there... for now...

It disappeared again... Ugh! When I first got my phone it never did this. Idk how it even happened. Any other ideas??

Remove your gmail account in account settings, restart you phone. Recreate your account as a google account(blue g icon) in account settings complete with the image you want. It may solve this.

Did that and my pic went away again.... Ugh! Maybe I should just delete my google plus account....
