Why are my messages being recived oddly?

Hi, I just installed the android 9.0 pie update and when I send one long text the person receives the whole message but it has been separated into multiple parts. At the end of the message they receive there will be a (1/3) or a (3/3). How do I fix this? Thank you for your help.

Have a peek in messages settings, it might be set up to break up longer messages...
