Music player apps crashing frequently since recent Android update

My unrooted Galaxy S5 (details below) got an update last Monday, and since then PlayerPro music player has suddenly crashed randomly but frequently (approx every 10-15 minutes). I've tried a couple of other music apps to check whether PlayerPro itself was the problem, but they have the exact same issue. When it crashes, the track playing suddenly cuts out, there's no on-screen error message, and when I press Play in the app again, the track starts from the beginning.

I read that uninstalling Android System WebView is supposed to fix random crashes, but I tried that and rebooted, and it didn't change anything.

What should I try next?

Thanks
Cliff

Re: Music player apps crashing frequently since recent Android update

There is a known inherent flaw in Lollipoop where apps crash constantly. You notice this with music apps as the audio stops. Some apps restart where they left off well, others don't. Can't wait for Marshmallow, not that we will get it.

I'm having the same problem, it's extremely frustrating. Is there any other solutions people can suggest or audio players that still work fine. Thanks.

Rocket Player works properly.

Pro tip: if you've got hundreds of albums on your device, don't update the album artwork until the free trial period has ended, otherwise you'll have to do it all over again once the paid subscription (79p a year in UK money) kicks in.
