Old mails still showing in android phone even after gmail password change

Hi,

I lost my newly bought android phone. No security (no pin / pattern lock) is enabled in it. Device manager is also not set. I changed my google account password from my laptop. But I am still able to access all my old gmails from my other android phone. It just shows a notification at the bottom that it is not able to login, which is of no use because all the existing mails are clearly visible. How do I make sure that the old emails are not visible in my lost device? I tried using the device manager, but it shows the name of the lost device, but it is not able to ring or wipe or identify the location.

Please help. I have a lot of important old emails

With regards,
VRG

Welcome to Android Central! Is this on the Gmail app or the stock Email app? Are you actually able to open the email and read the entire thing, or are you just able to see who sent it and the subject line in the inbox?

Re: Old mails still showing in android phone even after gmail password change

Hi,

It is the gmail app that is bundled along with other google apps. I am able to actually see all the emails of the past 1 month, open them and even download the attachments. The moment I click the gmail app, it just goes to the inbox without even asking for any signin information (even after changing the account password from my laptop, and enabling the 2 step verification process). It is like some sort of local cache in the phone.

With regards,

In Android Device Manager on the web, what happens when you click on the Erase button for that lost phone? My understanding is that even if the phone isn't connected to the web, the Erase command can still be selected, which will be sent and executed the next time the phone is connected to the web. That's probably the best option you have right now.

The gmail app syncs a certain number of days worth of email onto your device. Which is why you need a password/pin on your phone!
