Android Central Question

So like my title states for some reason all of the files (both pictures and videos) that I have transferred from my Sony Xperia XZ Premium to my Sandisk Ultra 256GB Class 10 MicroSD card are corrupted and un-openable both on my phone and on my laptop. My question is why is this happening and is there any way of recovering these precious files? The files themselves show the proper size meaning they are taking up the appropriate space on the microSD card but I cannot open them. Please advise. TIA!

How did you format the SD card? It should be exFAT.

Has this SD card ever been readable? Where did you purchase it? If you bought it from an eBay seller or an Amazon Marketplace seller it might be counterfeit, especially if the price was extremely low compared to what it is at reputable stores such as actual Amazon or Best Buy.
