Why are only 250 contacts syncing from my Google account to my Galaxy s6 edge?

I have approximately 360 contacts in my Google/GMail account and when I try to get them to sync on my Galaxy S6 it stops at 250 contacts and doesn't go any further. I have gone into the account settings and when I open the Google account it syncs everything (gmail, app data, calendar, chome, drive) and shows the latest time synced. But the "Sync Contacts" portion seems to be stuck or "the arrow wheel" stops spinning. Has anyone encountered this problem? Are there any fixes?

Have you tried using Gmail Help (?)....it's quite comprehensive.....the Troubleshooting section covers issues as you describe.
