why are received videos such poor quality?

My daughter sends videos from her Note 5 to my Galaxy s5 and the quality is so poor I can't see them.

Welcome to Android Central! Tell her not to send them as text messages, because the maximum file size for attached videos or pics is 1.2 MB. This is very small, and any video will be compressed way beyond the point of any decent quality. Tell her instead to upload the videos privately to YouTube or her Google Photos, then share the link with you.
