I have been waiting for this phone since the summer back when it was the Vigor. I am coming from the Dinc1, upgrade is the end of the month. I know all the details about this phone and have made up my mind. I was going to wait to see what the Nexus was going to be like, but forget that now. Well anyways, the Verizon wireless store, Best Buy & Best Buy mobile have all tried me to get my interest into another phone. VWS rep said to me "you really want that phone?" The BB store was trying to get my interest into the Thunderbolt or switch to sprint service all together. Now today the BB Mobile rep was trying to get me to get the Dinc2 or the Razr. Sorry I am not really a fan of Motorola phones. I myself love HTC phones & Sense is a huge plus for me. So why are all the store reps trying to deter people away from one of the best smartphones this year? The quality of the HD screen is drop dead beautiful compared to other smartphones.

Consumer Reports Magazine came out with their top picks for each carrier. The Razr and the Nexus came out too late for the review. Assuming you want to stay with VZW, their choices (in order of best on down....) are:

(1) Motorola Droid Bionic
(2) HTC Thunderbolt
(3) LG Revolution
(4) Samsung Charge
(5) Apple iPhone 4S (not ever going to happen for me...)
(6) Motorola Droid 3
(7) Motorola Droid X2
(8) Apple iPhone 4
(9) HTC Incredible
(10) Casio G'zOne Commando
(11) Sony Ericsson Experia
(12) Blackberry Bold 9930
(13) HTC Trophy

All were considered "Best Buys" except for the iPhone 4 and the Trophy.

As a personal preference, I like keyboards, so I would definitely add the Samsung Stratosphere to that list.

I am sure the salesmen aren't basing their recommendations on this, but I tend to value their opinions....I would go to a corporate VZW store and play with them. Near me, they are the only place to see ALL available, working models.

The Rezound wont be on that list either because that phone came out the same time as the Razr also. But from what I am seeing these reps arent even trying to push the Rezound, everything else but the Rezound.

When you go to a corporate VZW store and actually hold it, then you will finally know...your mind is made up. You can't go wrong with this phone. I've seen a lot of people who waited for the GN and those who have come over from having iphones to the Rezound. It's that good... ;)

I don't understand, if when your time to upgrade is here, just walk into the store and tell them what you want! Pretty easy!

I noticed Verizon isn't really pushing this phone. Since getting mine I've had to go to a Verizon store on three different occasions and they were different stores and they didn't have the name Rezound up anywhere, not even over the Rezound display. Maybe they get kickbacks from Moto or something cuz the Razr poster was up.

Don't let them push you away!

Holding the Rezound sold me

I agree, I had originally planned to get the Razor. Then after playing with several Razors I just could not find anyway to really hold it comfortably. I then read a few reviews on the Rezound and went to play with the phone. I was worried because several reviewers mentioned how thick the phone was compared to the Razor. After trying out both I really liked the feel of the Rezound and it's feature set.

Feel is important, but some other items sold me on the phone - being able to carry a spare battery (compared to the Razor). I really like the screen. MicroSD card support (compared to the Nexus). Screen size ( I already find 4.5 screens too big, so the 4.65 on the Nexus is too big for my liking). I also like HTC sense (Personal choice - but I do like it). Since the purchase I have come to really like the sound quality - Beats is really nice. Compared to my current MP3 player - the Rezound is outstanding.

I have been looking at phones since September and I am glad I waited for the Rezound - I really enjoy the phone.

when I went to the VZW store, I had my wife (complete non-techie) try out a Windows phone, iPhone and droids. The sales types figured out to leave me alone unless I asked them for information. They didn't know anything about the Rezound, so I made 'em give me the specs. She liked android the best oddly enough, so I then had her try all of them. She did NOT like the new Razr or the x2 or the bionic or... As they were too thin and didn't fit her hand. The Rezound is ergonomic, fits her hand and isn't slippery. For me, it has Beats, it'll be upgraded to ICS as per HTC. I'm good. Wife took it to her friend's house... She took one look and then another and then played with it and went... 'ooooh... I want...' (vs. Her motorola) ;-)

By all means listen to any useful info from the sales types, but in the end, it's you that has to use it every day. Aside from weak std battery, this is the best ergonomically designed phones I've played with. Once this gets ICS... Wow. :D

BB mobile drives me crazy because they don't have any working phones. Omaha has another electronics store that keeps all the phones on display working, so it was easy for me to decide. I too wanted a Nexus, but with Amazon doing penny sales, and my store matching.... pretty easy decision.

It would be my guess that just like with the Inc when it came out Moto and Big Red are in bed with each other and tend to push the moto devices. The Inc was so much better than the OG droid, but sadly it got little press outside of the forums. But I look at it like this, When I found the Inc it had the best specs and turned out to be a great phone. I did my homework and ended up very happy. I did my homework with the Rezound and I am sure that when the end of the month rolls around and I upgrade, I again will be very happy. Like other posters said go, touch, read, and you'll find the right phone for you. Never take a sales persons word for anything you don't at least have an idea about. Rarely do they have your interest in mind. I didn't say never, just rarely. I haven't experienced the same bias that you are, but it wouldn't matter to me much anyway. I think anything in the next few months will be hard pressed to beat the Zound.

Unless they come out with a similar phone that gets 2 days from a charge.;)

But then again, why do they need to?

Its like a camera or automobile or any other product....no need to push the product when it sells itself and is at the top of its class.

I noticed Verizon isn't really pushing this phone.

I will be getting the Zound at the end of the month. But it just makes me laugh that these stores frown on such a great phone. I never let a salesman make my mind up, thanks to sites like AC and this forum.

I noticed the same thing when I bought my Rezound here in Seattle. I'm not a cell phone expert, but I knew more about this phone then they did just from normal consumer research. For instance, they didn't think I could upgrade to a 32 gb micro SD card and they didn't have a 32 gb card available. It has been nearly a month and I'm still waiting for my mhl cable adapter.

Just to add to the mystery, the last time I looked, HTC didn't have any mention of this phone on their website. I guess they are counting on us to spread the word. I love this phone.

This is why I but online. I went in to a store once with hubby and they reps were pushing the iPhone onto everyone and I just rolled my eyes. This was like a year ago but I always buy online. Reps just drive me crazy and want to add crazy stuff to your phone.

This phone rocks, I think the best Verizon phone yet.

When I went into Verizon on Saturday to get the Rezound, I didn't let the Rep tell me anything about any other device in their lineup. I told him I wanted the Rezound and that is what I left the store with. We as consumers need to be proactive about what we want and need as well. I have always found that a little research is all that is needed to get what is going to work best for me. Never let a store Rep tell you what you need.

I asked when I went and picked up the Rezound as well. There was 0 signage or promotion for the Rezound but Razr was everywhere you looked. The salesman was at least honest about everything though. He said he didn't know why, they just put up what corp told them to. He also said both phones were top notch though and my decision would come down to 2 things: form factor and multimedia. CPU speed would only matter if I knew what Quadrant was. When it came down to multimedia there was 1 thing the Razr could not compete with according to him: Beats. And in form factor, obviously the razr was the thinnest.

Its something corp decided for some reason. Prolly because vzw holds anything with the "Droid" monicker as the Flagship phone. Which has been true so far. We'll se if the promote the Nexus as much I guess

When i went by the verizon corporate store recently, i saw 3 posters up for the razr, 0 for the rezound. it comes down to what you are doing, if you plan to watch movies, the brighter screen of the razr would probably suit you better. for me, mostly checking e-mail and reading forums or mostly text websites, the rezound has a much sharper screen as it's hd vs the razrs qHD. in some graphics intensive stuff, the razr may be better, as it has a substantially lower resolution, meaning it would take less processing power to display graphics. The razr is thinner, but the rezound seems to be more ergonomic, easier to hold. and of course, the rezound has a removable battery.

Last night and again this morning I saw a commercial for the Rezound. Good to see that Verizon is doing some advertising for this awesome device.

Just reposting so that I get updates. Had to enable subscriptions in the options.

I went in to the Verizon store in my area looking for accessories. I talked with one of the reps for a few minutes and he stated that the rezound was the best phone they had in the store. He said he had tried the GN but still said the Rezound was a better phone.
