Why aren't I able to scroll through the homescreens/panels/apps for either bottom corner of the screen?

My partner & I both have a HTC one m8, both on the same network......but hers scrolls thru homescreens/panels/apps from either bottom corner.... Whereas mine doesn't....why is this please?
