Why aren't I getting any results when using Google Now Search?

Google Now Search - No Results

I use the Google Now Search (voice or keyed input) to search for pretty much anything. It seems to recognize what I am searching for; however, I get a blank screen for the results. I still see the "Web", "Images", etc., options at the bottom. If I do the search via Chrome, it works fine. For some reason, I can't get any search results to show up at all. My son has the exact same phone but his seems to work fine. Is there some setting that I need to change to make this work again? Please help!

BTW, I just did the latest update to Lollipop but the problem existed in the previous version of Android. The problem is still present in Lollipop.

Welcome to Android Central! Try going to Settings>App Manager>All​, select Google App, and Clear Cache/Clear Data, then Force Stop. Now try again.

I have a neighbor with a Samsung phone and twice in the past week she has asked me to help her with the similar issue.
Follow B. Diddys advice and it should work. Thats what i have done to her phone but after a few days it came back.
