Why aren't I getting notifications on Galaxy S4?

I am not getting notifications on my galaxy s4 from some of my apps like snapchat and a few others, i have changed the settings in sounds and notifications and in the apps and it still doesnt work, i dont know what else to do?!! Its a new phone and its its updated to the current whatever its called i need help!!!

Welcome to Android Central! Go to the App Manager, select those apps, and make sure notifications are turned on there. Also, does this only happen when the phone is idle/asleep? If so, see what happens if you turn off any power saving modes. And check the Settings>Data Usage​ menu to make sure Restrict Background Data isn't turned on.

Ok so i went in and all the apps have notifications turned on, i do not have it on power saver mode and restrictive data is off its on standard mobile data and it still doesnt send me notifications is there anything else i could do ?

In the Data Usage menu, also select those specific apps and see if they're individually set to restrict background data.

If they're not, then try wiping the cache partition, which won't erase any personal data: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-5744
