Why aren't my alarms going off?

My Galaxy Note 8 alarms will not go off in the morning when the screen saver is on. It briefly starts then stops. They only go off when I'm already up and looking at my phone. It seems to have started after the last software update. Also, my Alarm and Timer Alerts are set to Silent and grayed out.

Since it seems related to an update we'll temporarily skip trying to see if it is related to another app.

Alarm sounds, notifications and volume control seem to be some of the top issues after an update and it sounds like your issue fits among them. I would try clearing the cache partition.
