Why aren't my files being added to my microSD card?

Files not being added to microSD card

I'm copying files to my microSD card, and they show up in the folder once the write is completed. But once the card is ejected and re-inserted (whether in my PC or my S4) the files are gone.

Most of my old files are still there and accessible - this issue has only cropped up on the most recent attempts. The used and available space shown changes accordingly when the files are added, but revert to the previous values once the card is ejected and re-inserted and the files are gone - like the write never happened. Anyone know what the issue is and how I can fix it? Preferably without formatting the card.

The card is a 64GB SanDisk microSD. I'm also using a SanDisk microSD to SD card reader adapter.

Welcome to Android Central! Install and run SD Insight to see if the card is genuine or counterfeit. Counterfeit cards are smaller-capacity cards that are programmed to report a larger size. They work fine until you exceed their true capacity--then they start acting oddly (or lose all of your data outright).
