So the revolution could be a good lte device were it not for Bing. Its good looking, lg's build quality is pretty impressive, and the skin isn't even terrible. But its stuck with Bing!

I?ve never really looked at a phone that has been ?binged.?

What does it entail? Is it just that the phone defaults to using Bing when doing a universal search on the phone or something? Is it more intrusive than that?

Agreed! I went to Android because I like Google apps and services. Will never get a Binged phone.

you can open the browser yourself and then type in google.com and go there. but if you use the search button it just goes strait to bing. if i wanted to use bing i would have bought a ****ty windows phone that came out 3 years too late into the phone wars.

All BlackBerry phones going forward will have Bing integrated at the OS level. This means I will not consider BlackBerry in the future.

Ok, but realistically, if you tend not to use the phone based search and you tend to just have google as your homepage, this wouldn't really impact a person much would it?

I'm assuming there aren't a bunch of bing logos all over the interface that can't be deleted, correct?

If it's bing'ed as the Fascinate was/is you'll be directed to bing search when you use the search on the phone and directed to bing navigation. Now this is just opinion since I really don't know exactly what sort of bingedness they'll have for the revo.

Its like buying a Honda car with a Dodge engine in it. If you wanted a windows phone you would have bought one with the other 6 people in the world who did. I belive that google is smarter than microsoft and knows how to build a great search engine

Its got Bing because Verizon/LG got paid money for it to have Bing. While I don't mind Bing on my phone at my choosing I do NOT want it forced on me.

It really always comes down to rooting, bootloaders and custom ROM/Kernel's.

I had a VZW rep demonstrate a Google vs Bing search for restaurants via voice, everytime Google worked while Bing was slow and did not find a result. It was impressive to see how good Google search worked. He tried 4 examples and everytime Google worked flawlessy. Try it yourself at a VZW store. Based on the demo I will not get a Binged phone.

When VZ Navigator got Binged I noticed search results were missing and poor. I cancelled VZ Navigator because it uses Bing for POI searches.

Vznav sucks anyways, I was in an unfamiliar city a couple years ago looking for a Starbucks, it brought me to several targets. Plus when I was looking for a sprint store around the same time, it hid any relevant results.

The big question is how hackable are LG phones? If it is easily rooted cleansing it of Bing will be a snap.

sounds like a lot of people are just bitter over a word.

I'm trying to understand this as well....
It seems to me, that I could just open my browser and go to google.com and do my search.
It seems to me, I could just install Google Maps from the marketplace and do my search.

What's the problem here? I can't hit the search button and say "pizza" and have Google find the closest pizza place? That's supposed to stop me from buying a particular phone?

The problem is that vzw is out only for the money and their customers are buying into it. They are jamming things down our throats and it sucks. Why does it suck some people are asking, it sucks because I have all of these apps on my phone that I can't delete, I don't want them, they are constant running in the background wasting my battery. If my company didn't pay my phone bill I would have switched carriers already.

People still buy these phones that verizon is ruining with bing so verizon thinks its ok to keep doing it. Soon they will take the next step and lock you down into their apps. Imagine a phone where no matter what you did you had to use vznav and bing search and all the other things that give me nightmares. Don't say it will never happen because you are already considering to buy a google phone with bing a the primary search engine.

It's not that big of a deal. There will be a workaround like there was with the Fascinate. I have had a Fascinate now since day 1 and I have never used Bing one time.

If you like the phone, then get it. That's my take on it. There are ways around using Bing with the Fascinate and I am sure there will be with the LG too.

You make excellent points but the problem is that VZW doesn't care whether you buy the phone or not. They could come out with all Bing phones next year, and people will still end up buying them, because they want the VZW service...

Might as well just buy the hardware you want and change the software :)
