Why Bionic when there is a Samsung Galaxy S2?

I was looking forward to getting the Bionic for awhile. Then a few weeks ago I was made aware of the Samsung Galaxy S2 which to me seems to be a superior phone in nearly every way. So my question for you is what reason would you get the Bionic when the Galaxy S2 should be out around the same time?

Thanks

And link to the S2 for those who haven't seen it: Samsung GALAXY S II

The bionic is an LTE phone. The galaxy s2 is not. The galaxy s2 is an hspa+ phone and won't be coming to Verizon, or at least not in its current form.

This. Also, the galaxy s2 has a 480x800 display, while the Bionic has a qHD 540x960 display. It also doesn't have an hdmi port (it has MHL) and it has a 1650mAh battery compared to the 1930mAh in the bionic. In addition to this, Samsung has been known not to deliver updates to their american phones. The bionic is going to get the webtop feature as well. I don't see why you should pick the galaxy s2 over the bionic under really any circumstances.

Galaxy SII does have an HDMI port but it doubles as USB as stated above. It will also be an LTE device on Verizon. More ram and a much better screen on the Galaxy S 2. Bionics pentile screen is much to be desired in my opinion.

Not to say the Bionic will be a bad phone. It will be a great phone no doubt but the Galaxy SII has superior hardware all the way around. Two great phones but the nod goes to the Galaxy SII says CK :)

Those are some things to think about.

Battery size is important to me but I noticed talk and standby times are higher on the S2 than the Bionic. However, I know these numbers can't really be trusted.

As far as it coming to Verizon, I wont get it unless it does. Coverage in my area with any other provider is just too bad. However, the latest release rumors are all saying Verizon for the US release so hopefully that is correct. And the same for 4G, it's not spec'd for the UK release as 4G but highly rumored to be for the Verizon release. I guess only time will tell on these things. But if they are true, does it change your mind?

Ok, glad someone else is seeing this. I just figured I was going crazy after readin the first two replies to this thread. I am not the most tech savy guy but the S2 looks way better on the spec sheet to me.

There is no confirmed word about the S2 releaseing except for what seemed to be a homemade "leaked" roadmap that had the phone listed.

I think that the Galaxy S2 will be a Great phone as well as the Bionic will be a Great phone. But I think is a lot of peoples fear and dislike for Samsung phones is no updates. Talk to people who have the Fascinate. They still did not get the Froyo update yet. The fear of having Gingerbread for 18 months while other phones get updates with a form of honeycomb made for phones or Ice cream concerns me.. I am up in the air decision wise but leaning toward the Bionic because of the past of Samsung and Verizon with updates. I want updates if they are going to do the same with this phone as the Fascinate I will pass.

Galaxy S II benchmarked, makes other phones cry in shame

Imagine the beauty of samsung, with the speedy updates to the OS of Motorola? Both will be cream, but why bionic when the nexus 3 is coming?

Where are you getting you info on this phone from? This phone is not an LTE phone and it does not have a cdma radio in it. The only Samsung phone launching on Verizon with LTE is the Droid charge, which is definitely not a galaxy 2 device as it only has a single core processor.

Because the nexus 3 is soooo far away. Can't make the comparison, at least I can't.

When you put it like that.....it all makes sense. Is that 1GB ram DDR2 on that galaxy 2?
