Why buy from Google rather than Amazon?

I'm still on the fence about buying a 3XL. I keep going to the Google store, and it takes a few clicks for me to discover that the Unlocked 3XL 128GB black is out of stock. I can't order it, I just have to try again next time I think about it. Click click click :(

Meanwhile at Amazon I can order one for about the same price) and when it becomes in-stock (12/13) they will ship it to me.

Why does Google make it so hard to buy their stuff? Is there any benefit to buying directly from Google?

Or is Amazon just making up a date because they can't get a straight answer from Google either?

Thanks.

Because the official site has moved on the the P4. They've likely sold their entire stock of P3 to Woot or someone similar.

Yeah, a 3rd party is probably selling them. Nothing wrong with it, though.

OK, thanks. I wondered if that might be the case. But they are still listed on Google's site, which seems odd (although the pink one is still available, I wonder why :D

On Woot today

Just be aware that Google is not obligated to provide warranty service if it isn't purchased from an authorized dealer. That doesn't mean they absolutely wouldn't - but you are not guaranteed such.

If I ever make up my mind I definitely plan on buying the US unlocked model either direct from Google or from Amazon (sold by Amazon, not some random Amazon seller).

Woot is owned by Amazon, not a random seller.

Amazon is one big random seller, and 9 and a half times out of 10 you'll get screwed by them. Some major news organization did an Amazon article and found the majority of Amazon's stuff, especially electronics, were not as advertised. Amazon claimed they didn't have the ability to monitor everything... which I believe. All they are is a huge uncontrolled marketplace for garage type scammers.

If you want a TRULY brand new SEALED unopened official U.S. Google pixel at one of the best prices you'll find go to B&H photo video. That's the only place I go to besides the manufacturers or the big chain stores like Best Buy to get my electronics.

I've tried Amazon/eBay/Woot/Swappa etc multiple times and it's a waste of time and money.

Of course ymmv, but I doubt by much :-P
